In today’s world where social media powers everything it is no surprise that facial aesthetics has become increasingly popular. People want to look like their favourite celebrities and bloggers and to enhance their natural features. This has now become possible at your dentist Meath and therefore you can book your initial consultation now.

Facial aesthetics are a non-surgical form of cosmetic dentistry which is not as intrusive or permanent on the skin. There are a number of different types of facial aesthetic treatments that people undergo but the most common are fillers.

What are fillers?

Lip and face fillers are commonly referred to as dermal fillers and these are performed by injecting substances directly into the required area. Lip fillers are increasingly common as people want to have fuller and plumper looking lips. Young adults often opt for lip fillers as they see their favourite celebrity or blogger getting lip fillers done on social media. Also there are people who feel self conscious of their lips or their appearance in general and are looking for a subtle way of enhancing their features. Face fillers are also very commonly used particularly amongst older adults who are looking to remove or reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

What causes wrinkles?

Wrinkles are natural lines and abrasions that form on the skin for a number of reasons. Often the environment and pollution has an impact on the forming of wrinkles and fine lines and also food and drink can impact this. The types of food we eat and the amount of alcohol that is consumed can speed up the ageing process. Another factor that can chase lines and wrinkles is stress. In this country there are multitudes of people who are stressed for a number of reasons – work, family, friends, finances, lifestyle. All these factors can have an impact on a person’s appearance and can also impact on their self consciousness and confidence within themselves.

What is the procedure?

At the initial consultation the dentist will discuss the areas of concern and also discuss the look and effect that the patient is going for. The dentist will ensure that the patient’s needs and requirements are satisfied. Once the patient is happy and comfortable with the treatment plan the dentist will start the treatment. The filler substance is a natural substance that will not cause any harm or damage to the skin. This will get injected into the desired area. There will be slight pain and discomfort however the dentist will ensure that the patient is given local anaesthetic or a numbing gel to ensure that the patient is comfortable throughout the procedure.

What happens after the procedure?

The results are instantaneous and patients will be able to see a dramatic change in their appearance almost immediately after the treatment. This will give them the confidence boost that they require.

It is important to note that injectable fillers are not permanent and therefore the effects will wear off over time and patients will need to return to their dentists to have the treatment performed again should they wish to maintain their appearance.
